ford escort wrc paint colour

right you anoraks!!
i need a wee drop of the blue on the white/blue escort wrc cars used by kankkunnen and thiery, and then by our frank meagher, just to paint the rear spoiler....i see a tamiya blue but am not really familiar with plastic kits and associated paint colours....anyone either know the name or code of the blue, or could suggest a very close colour to buy?
on a separate note, i notice the blue on the meagher decal set you can buy, is quite a bit off from the original works blue...anyone else have this issue with thee decals?

I think that the blue on Franks car is not the blue from the works car, but is either from the Lombard and Ulster branding or else the Duckhams colours , both of which were his loyal sponsors at the time.  Hopefully someone here can throw some light!

hi bobby no probs m8..........just to clarify though its the wrc escort, ie white with dark blue banding and and large oval ford decal on rear quarters........not the escort cosworth which frank drove in lombard and ulster/duckhams livery......which is a lighter blue.....

Frank didnt really have the money to change colour schemes much, so I think the original WRC colour is what he would have used. If not its very similar.

This site may be of some help. I found it the other day, but havnt mentioned it yet on the forum as Ive yet to see how accurate it is. Basically, it allows you to upload an image, click a certain part of the image and give you an RGB (Red,Green,Blue) code to work from. Any graphics program can do this, but this site goes a step further and suggests paints that match that color.

This greatly depends on the image you use, lighting conditions the photo was taken in etc, but it might be a good place to start. It will give a close match to various paint manufacturers as well as RAL codes to get your own mixed up. Would love to get some feedback from some of the professionals to see how good this actually is.
