Any tips how to do this? I don't want to risk Nitromors or any other pain stripper as it will melt the plastic.

hi dave, acetone free nail varnish remover can work, but water it well down initially to be safe with you first application... then gradually increase the ratio til the paint starts to come off..should be ok

or if you have a dremel or similar, with a very fine grade abrasive paper attached....
